Confidence Coach Advice & Activities to Improve Confidence

confidence coach

Whether it’s due to self-doubt, feeling inadequate, or comparing ourselves to others, a lack of confidence can seem overwhelming to many of us women. It’s easy to think that confidence comes naturally once we’ve achieved certain goals, but as a confidence coach, I can assure you that it’s a learned skill. That’s great news because if you currently lack confidence in one or more areas of your life, ongoing effort through the activities you engage in to improve your confidence will yield results with consistent practice.

My personal journey has presented many challenges that, like many of you face, have profoundly influenced my confidence. From my divorce to running a male-dominated business and quitting my corporate 9-to-5, all within less than ten years, these resilient experiences nearly broke me. However, they also shaped the confidence I have today, making it natural for me to evolve into my role as a confidence coach

My holistic approach and advice is specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of ambitious, high-achieving women, empowering them to overcome self-doubt, heal their self-esteem, and thrive by embracing their authentic selves in both life and business.

Confidence in women isn’t about striving for perfection; it’s about believing in yourself and your abilities, regardless of external opinions.

What Makes Someone Confident

When I reflect on the traits that define confident people, I’m drawn to qualities like self-awareness, resilience, grit, and a positive mindset. I see these attributes consistently in my peers, who reveal their unwavering self-belief in challenging situations by staying grounded, adapting, and persevering through adversity. (Related: The Power of Grit)

I often hear from my clients, "Is confidence innate, or is it cultivated through deliberate practice and experience?" So let me clear up this debate of what makes someone confident.

As a confidence coach, I believe confidence isa learned skill. While some people may naturally exude confidence due to personality traits like assertiveness or upbringing, we all begin life with a sense of fearlessness and curiosity. Over time, though, societal pressures and comparisons to others often erode that natural confidence, making us doubt our abilities and self-worth.

So here’s the big question: what habits and activities can we adopt to improve our confidence?

For me, confidence begins with embracing our authentic self, having self-empathy and acceptance which allows us to express our true voice, staying committed to our true desires and not giving up on striving for personal growth, even if we want to throw in the towel sometimes.

Keep this is mind: everything is a struggle until it's not. Read that again.

As a women’s confidence coach, I emphasize authenticity as the key to success to empower confidence in women. I know that can feel uncomfortable to some of you. It’s natural to feel challenged by the prospect of revealing your true self, especially when it goes against long-held beliefs and societal expectations.

But when you unapologetically embrace your true self, just the way you are—like the confident child you once were—you become an unstoppable force.

Ultimately, what makes someone confident is about recognizing their unique qualities and strengths. With a little self-reflection, think about what truly ignites your passion and makes you feel alive. Give it a go! For me, it was diving into the intricacies of the mind, exploring the science and psychology behind our habits, and rebuilding my life after forty.

Confidence Coach Tips: Daily Confidence-Building Habits

It takes courage and commitment to level up your life and practice confidence-building habits. Not only is it possible, but it’s also very likely that with small, actionable, and consistent transformative exercises, along with incredible accountability by your side, you can enhance your confidence daily and thrive.

Using the examples above, setting and accomplishing very small new habits that you know you can achieve is the first promise you must make to yourself. For instance, before you go to sleep, say aloud three things you are grateful for that day. I know this might sound simplistic, but trust me—great progress begins with small, doable action steps. These baby steps are what make someone feel confident over time, creating a sense of purpose and commitment that invites consistent self-reflection.

Confidence and Relationships

Confidence and relationships certainly should go hand-in-hand because our confidence greatly influences how we connect with others, both personally and professionally. When we feel confident, we communicate more openly, express our needs clearly, and build stronger connections. However, there exists a confidence gap between men and women, which can stem from societal expectations, negative self-perceptions, and a lack of encouragement.

Think about it: how often do you hesitate to speak up in a meeting or shy away from setting boundaries with friends or colleagues? Such hesitation often arises from a lack of self-belief, highlighting the importance of nurturing our confidence by asserting ourselves more effectively as women.

If you struggle to voice your needs, fearing rejection or conflict, you likely have a difficult time recognizing your worth. In my role as a women's confidence coach, I've seen many incredible women initially grapple with a profound fear of relationship failure.

But look at fear this way—if you move forward in the presence of fear, you will gain the confidence and relationships needed to make decisions that are right for you, establishing healthy boundaries and improving your communication.

Remember, fear is a healthy and natural response; it signals growth and encourages you to step outside your comfort zone—ya I know, scary. But having this newfound confidence in relationships will help you advocate for yourself and create shifts that lead to healthier, more fulfilling connections.

How to Be Confident in a Relationship

Imagine entering a relationship where both partners feel valued and heard, where each other’s feelings are validated even if they disagree with one another. Validating someone’s emotions means acknowledging and accepting each other’s feelings without judgment. To be clear, it does not mean that you have to agree with or condone every emotion expressed. Be curious, look to understand, and be respectful to create a deeper connection.

This sense of mutual respect is often underpinned by confidence because learning how to be confident in a relationship requires you to carry a belief in your worth, which transforms how you connect with your partner. It allows for deeper conversations and fosters an environment where both individuals can thrive.

Give this some thought: Have you ever considered how your own self-perception influences your interactions?

Rather than fearing rejection, confident people approach conversations with an openness that invites vulnerability. This openness paves the way for genuine connections, where both partners feel secure enough to share their true selves.

Confidence can make it easier to voice your needs and set boundaries, essential components for any healthy relationship. Working alongside a confidence coach can help you nurture your self-worth and develop these vital skills.

So, how can you nurture how to be confident in a relationship? Start by practicing self-awareness. Reflect on what you truly need from your relationships, and don’t shy away from expressing those needs. It might feel daunting initially, but each time you assert yourself, you reinforce your belief in your worth.

My advice to you—consider setting small boundaries. For example, if your partner tends to interrupt during conversations, gently remind them that you’d like to finish your thoughts before they respond. Such actions not only assert your needs but also signal to your partner that your voice matters. Over time, these small steps build a solid foundation of confidence that strengthens your relationship with first yourself and then with each other.

Overcoming Lack of Confidence in Social Situation

Social situations can be challenging for those struggling with confidence or dealing with social anxiety. Research shows that individuals with lower self-esteem are more likely to suppress emotions and feel less capable in social settings, leading to anxiety and stress.

What if you could face these moments with ease?

Start by accepting that it’s okay to feel nervous. My confidence course helps you embrace this and guides you through visualization exercises and manageable social activities. Confidence coaches like me empower you to gradually improve your self-esteem and self-improvement journey by focusing on progress, not perfection.

My advice to you, start by speaking in front of a mirror or rehearsing with a trusted friend. Slowly expand your audience, focusing on clear communication rather than perfection. Remember, confidence isn’t about being flawless; it’s about embracing your uniqueness and sharing it with the world.
